The CMY color model is made up of cyan (C), magenta (M), and yellow (Y). In respect to color, computer monitors are additive, while color printers are subtractive, so instead of combining light from monitor phosphors, printers coat paper with colored pigment that remove specific colors from the illumination light. CMY is the subtractive color model that corresponds to the additive RGB model. Cyan, magenta, and yellow are the color complements of red, green, and blue.
