Editing images

ImageWarp offers an extensive set of image editing tools that allow you to perform the following basic tasks:

To define rectangular or elliptical selection (ROI)
 
1.drawrectselect drawroundselect From the Draw menu select the desired selection tool.  
 
2.Drag over the desired area in the image to define the selection region.  
 
3.To select a square or circle, hold down the CTRL key while dragging.  

To define a freehand selection (ROI)
 
1.drawfreeselect Click the Freehand selection button on the Draw toolbar  
 
2.Drag in the image to draw a freehand selection border  
 
3.To draw a straight-edged selection border, release the right mouse button, move the cursor to the endpoint of the segment and click to anchor the point.  
 
4.To erase recently drawn segments, hold down the BACKSPACE key until you have erased all the points for the desired segment  
 
5.To enclose the freehand selection, double click or press the right mouse button.  

To use Magic Wand
 
1.drawmagicwand From the Draw toolbar select Magic Wand tool  
 
2.Double click the brush tip icon on the Palette bar to open the Tool Settings.  
 
3.Adjust the Hue, Light and Saturation thresholds for and click OK.  
 
4.Click the desired area in the image to make it a selection.  

To add and subtract selection areas
 
1.From the Draw toolbar select one of the previously described selection tools.  
 
2.To add a new selection area to the existing selection, hold down the SHIFT key while defining the selection area.  
 
3.To subtract a region from the existing selection, hold down the ALT key while defining the selection area.  

To move selections
 
1.drawmoveselect From the Draw toolbar select the Move tool.  
 
2.Position the cursor over the selection region and drag it to the desired location.  
 
3.To move the selection to another image, position two image frame next to each other and drag the selection from one image to another.  
 
4.Alternatively, press CTRL-C to copy the selection into the Clipboard, activate another image and press CTRL-V to paste the selection.  
 
5.Right click in the image to open a shortcut menu and select Flatten to make the floating selection part of the image.  

To draw with the Pencil and Brush tools
 
1.drawpencil drawbrush From the Draw toolbar select the Pencil or Brush tool.  
 
2.Pick up the draw color from the Palette pane  
 
3.Select a Width for the pencil tool or the Size and Intensity for the brush tool by using the corresponding controls on the Palette bar  
 
4.Drag in the image to paint  
 
5.To draw a straight line segment, hold down the SHIFT key and click the ending point  
 
6.To draw a horizontal or vertical line, hold down the SHIFT and CTRL keys  
 
7.To fill the whole image with the draw color, hold down the CTRL key and double click.  
 
To draw with the Clone tool
 
1.drawclone From the Draw toolbar select the Clone tool  
 
2.Adjust the Size and Intensity of the Clone tip by using the corresponding controls on the Palette bar  
 
3.Select the source image and right click in an area to be cloned  
 
4.Select the destination image and drag the cursor to paint over the desired area  
 
5.To keep both cloned and destination areas aligned, hold the CTRL key while making the first painting stroke.  

To use the Flood tool
 
1.drawfill From the Draw toolbar select the Flood tool.  
 
2.Pick up a fill color by right clicking in the Palette pane.  
 
3.Double click the brush tip icon on the Palette bar to open the Tool Settings.  
 
4.Adjust the Hue, Light and Saturation thresholds for flooding and click OK.  
 
5.Position the cursor over the area you want to flood and click the left mouse button  
 
To overlay lines, rectangles and ellipses
 
1.drawline drawrectangle drawellipse Select the desired tool from the Draw toolbar  
 
2.Pick up the Draw and Fill colors by left and right clicking in the Palette pane.  
 
3.Adjust the Intensity of the Fill color with the corresponding control on the Palette bar.  
 
4.Drag in the image to draw the selected graphic primitive.  
 
To overlay text
 
1.drawtext From the Draw toolbar select the Text tool.  
 
2.Select a rectangular area for the text by dragging in the image.  
 
3.Right click in the text area to open the Font dialog.  
 
4.Select the desired parameters for the font and click OK.  
 
5.Enter the desired text by using the keyboard.  
 
6.To change the text color, select the desired color on the Palette pane.  
 
7.To reposition the text area, drag the borders of the bounding rectangle.  
 
To warp an image
 
1.drawwarp From the Draw toolbar select the Warp tool.  
 
2.Click the desired area in the image and drag a line in the direction in which you want to apply the linear warping effect.  
 
To edit an image numerically
 
1.viewdigeditor From the View toolbar select the Digital Editor.  
 
2.drawrectselect Define an area of interest by applying a rectangular selection to the image (see above).  
 
3.Scroll the content of the Digital Editor to the desired location. Notice how the red rectangle in the image indicates the image region that corresponds to the displayed portion of the table.  
 
4.To modify a specific pixel, click the related cell in the table and type a new value or change the current one using the spin controls.  
 
5.To modify the values of a group of pixels, pick up the desired Fill color by right clicking in the Palette window, Fillcolorselect a group of cells in the Digital Editor table and then press the Fill button.  
 
To erase your changes
 
1.draweraser From the Draw toolbar select the Eraser tool.  
 
2.Adjust the Size and Intensity of the Eraser by using the corresponding controls on the Palette bar  
 
3.Drag in the image to revert the pixels previously changed with other drawing tools.  
 
4.To apply the Eraser to the whole image, hold down the CTRL key and double click in the image.
