Toolbar:   drawbrush
Script:   drawBrush, setBrush

Use this tool to draw using a paintbrush. When you click the Brush Tool button and move the cursor over an image frame, the cursor will take shape of a paintbrush. Press the left mouse button and drag the cursor to paint the desired line. If you want to constrain a segment to a straight line, click the left mouse button to anchor the starting point, hold down the SHIFT key and move the cursor, clicking the mouse button every time you want to set a new anchor point. If you want to constrain a segment to a vertical or horizontal line, press the left mouse button and hold down the CTRL key while dragging the cursor. When you paint with the Brush Tool, the current draw color
is applied. You can select the size and intensity of the brush tip by moving the Brush size and Brush intensity sliders respectively on the Palette Bar and watch the changes in the brush tip sample. If you double-click the brush tip sample, the Tool Settings dialog box will appear with the following Brush Tool options:

Size

Move the slider to set the width of the brush tip or indicate the desired value in pixels.

Intensity

Move the slider to set thickness of the paint or indicate the desired value in per cent. To "dilute" or to "thicken" the paint, decrease or increase the value respectively.

Hardness

Move the slider to set the sharpness of the brush edges or indicate the desired value in per cent. To make the edges of the paint more defined or softer, increase or decrease the value respectively.

Spacing

Move the slider to set the distance between the brush marks in a stroke or indicate the desired value as a percentage of the brush size. To make a stroke continuous or skipping, decrease or increase the value respectively.

In the pane on the left, you can see how the Size, Intensity, and Hardness options will affect the brush tip. Below this window, there is a drop-down list where you can select the shape of the brush tip.

You can use the Brush Tool to fill the whole image with the current draw color by double clicking on the image while holding down the CTRL key.
